PC Suite for P800 is regarded as one of the most unreliable software.
These are some tips to avoid many of the problems associated with it:
1.
Once installed, PC Suite Monitor (audevicemgr.exe) is placed in the start up and
loaded automatically. REMOVE IT
from the start up and place the shortcut on the desktop so that you run it whenever
you need, but not loaded all the time. This will save you
a lot of headache.
2.
Restart your PC before you intend to run PC Suite, and restart your PC after you
have finished.
3. Anti Virus
and firewall may have conflict with PC Suite, if problem persists, try disabling
those and see if it makes any difference.
4.
If link monitor does not seem to do anything after you have connected the USB
cable and phone, disconnect and connect the cable again.
5.
If the above does not work, right click Phone Connecting Link (then Properties)
on the system tray to bring up Link Properties. Uncheck all ports, close it, then
bring it back up again, tick the port that the cable is used, then close it.
Doing this may force it to start looking for connection.
6. If you must carry on working on the computer after you have
finished using PC Suite, go to Connecting Link above and UNCKECK the USB port
BEFORE you disconnect the phone
or the cable. This will stop the computer looking for the phone connection, which
is the main reason for the crash. A reset before doing other things is still recommended.
7. If you cannot tick any USB port (COM5 above), check
from device manager whether the port is installed.
If you cannot find USB to Serial Port (COMx), disconnect and
connect the cable again so that driver can be loaded. If it does not load, you
have to install the driver again.
Note: Each time
you disconnect and reconnect a USB device, a different com port may be assigned
particularly if you have several USB devices connecting your PC. So if your software
does not seem to work, check that a correct com port is assigned.
